Mir Laiq Ali

He was a renowned engineer and industrialist from Hyderabad. His professional career began as an Assistant Engineer in the Public Works Department of Hyderabad. However, he soon left government service and founded the Hyderabad Construction Company. Through his tireless efforts and foresight, the company quickly flourished. Later, he established several other industrial enterprises in Hyderabad. In addition, together with his brother-in-law and relative by marriage, Moin Nawaz Jung, he purchased a vast tract of fertile land near the Nizam Sagar Dam. After India annexed Hyderabad in 1948, he moved to Pakistan, where he served for many years in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After 12 years of dedicated work, he published Tragedy of Hyderabad in 1962, a poignant account of the sorrowful and tragic story of the freedom-loving people of Hyderabad losing their independence. At the final stage of his life, on October 24, 1971, while on an official assignment for the Government of Pakistan in New York, he passed away during the Fajr prayer. He was later buried in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
