Dipra Hasan

Dipra Hasan is associated with one of the most outspoken social media profiles against fascism. Since the turbulent days of Shahbag, his sharp writings have energized anti-fascist movements. At times, his writings have championed the BNP; at times, he has stood with the activists of Shapla; at other times, he has inspired members of Shibir or offered direction to the anti-discrimination movement. But throughout, his voice has remained consistently vocal against fascism. Dipra Hasan’s writing spans a wide range of genres. Alongside research-based essays, he writes stories, novels, poetry, satire, political commentary, religious discussions, and analytical pieces addressing various contemporary social issues. Dipra Hasan has not publicly revealed his identity. According to his Facebook profile, he lives in Thailand and is originally from Narail. Mocking what he considers Bangladesh’s mediocre philosophers, he describes himself as the “Greatest Philosopher of Our Time.” Many, however, genuinely regard him as one of the notable contemporary thinkers. His unconventional reflections have fascinated both his readers and even some of his critics. With four novels, two collections of short stories, and one book of poetry, he has already established a firm place among readers of Bengali literature.
